Hot off a semifinal appearance in Tokyo, James Brooksby of the United States tries to stay sharp as he faces James Trotter of Japan in the first round of the 2025 Shanghai Masters.

Listed at -370, Brooksby doesn’t offer a ton of value with the way he’s booked on the moneyline market.

Unfortunately, his impressive run came to an end at the hands of Taylor Fritz, the same player that defeated him in the first round of the 2025 Australian Open and the final of the Eastbourne Open.

Ranked 212nd in the world, Trotter is aiming for his first ATP top-100 win of his career against Brooksby on Wednesday. Trotter qualified for the main draw of the Shanghai Open after surviving a pair of three-set matches against Tibo Colson 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 and Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
