Week 1 of the college football season officially begins on Thursday night, featuring several games. One of these games will see the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, out of the CUSA, take on the UCF Knights, out of the Big 12. Jacksonville State is coming off a successful 2024-2025 season, finishing 9-4 and 7-1 in the conference. The Gamecocks also won Conference USA, beating Western Kentucky in the championship game by a score of 52-12. However, they ended their season with a loss to Ohio in the StaffDNA Cure Bowl.
As for UCF, they enter this game off a season where they struggled. The Knights finished 2024-2025 with a record of 4-8 and were 2-7 in conference play, their first season in the Big 12.
