Israel Adesanya (24-5-0) and Joe Payfer (15-3-0) will clash at the UFC Middleweight on Saturday night at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya is a former dominant champion who captured the belt in 2019. He has since lost the title twice before recapturing it from Alex Pereira at UFC 281. His reign didn’t last, though, after Pereira defeated him at UFC 287. Adesanya has fought two title matches since the loss, losing both.
Across the Octagon on Saturday night will stand Joe “Bodybagz” Pyfer, who is 7 years younger than Adesanya. Pyfer joined the UFC in August 2020 at the Dana White Contender Series, losing his first assignment against Dustin Stolzfus. However, the 30-year-old has since gone on a rampage in the division, winning his last three assignments. His record carries four KO/TKO finishes and two submissions, making him one of the best finishers in the division.

Adesanya will enter the Octagon as the -162 betting favorite. He will be keen to end his losing streak by forcing his opponent to chase him, where he’s more comfortable at managing the distance. His vicious leg kicks can also prevent Pyfer from landing a clean shot while allowing him to grow into the fight and control it. Pyfer’s only winning chance will be to maintain pressure and hope to land a clean shot that will end the fight. However, we think Adesanya will have the edge on Saturday thanks to his composure and experience in the Octagon. He should win via KO/TKO in the fourth or fifth round.
