Under a torrential downpour that lasted from kickoff to the final whistle, Nashville managed to hold on to a 2-1 lead, winning the game and forcing a decisive match on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale against Inter Miami.

Inter Miami had dominated the first game, winning 3-1 with two goals from Messi, leading many to believe they could close out the series in two matches. But Nashville's Surridge made things difficult for the Herons from the start; he hadn't featured in the first game, but just seven minutes into the second, he drew a penalty from goalkeeper Novo Ríos, which he then converted himself. It was a crucial early boost for Nashville and their fans.

Nashville had numerous scoring opportunities in the first half. Inter Miami's defensive lines were very permissive, leaving plenty of space that their opponents exploited. Ríos intervened with a couple more saves, but just before halftime, Nashville found themselves with a 2-0 lead after a corner kick, kicking the ball from the ground.

It wasn't until the final 20 minutes, under the relentless rain, that we saw Inter Miami's best, with greater connection in the final third. It was then, as the clock ticked down, that Messi created space and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot into the corner. Even so, Nashville managed to hold on to the result.
