The Indianapolis Colts (5-7 SU, 8-4 ATS) look to get some momentum going against the New England Patriots (3-9 SU, 4-7-1 ATS), who are well on their way toward a top draft pick. The Colts did seem to get Anthony Richardson’s attention by benching him earlier, as he’s looked better against the New York Jets. Granted, the Jets have made a lot of people look good as of late, but Richardson also wasn’t really the issue in the loss to Detroit last week.
However, the Colts have a real problem with getting the job done away from home. Indianapolis is just 2-4 this season on the road, and the Colts had previously lost three of five away. New England, meanwhile, hasn’t really figured out anywhere that works for it to play. The Patriots were always going to have problems this year, but it’s been really bad for this team as the year has gone along. Since a surprise in Week 1, the only wins have come against fellow strugglers New York and Chicago.

This game could turn ugly. New England has a tendency to bring bad teams down to its level, and the Colts’ play has qualified. Indianapolis has been highly inconsistent, which is why the Colts haven’t been able to make a move in what has been a weak AFC South. The division was there to be taken, but the Colts lost twice to Houston and fell to Jacksonville, which quickly made them an afterthought.
Indianapolis has the better roster, but this game feels like it could be a trap. New England has nothing to lose, but could easily knock the Colts to the fringes of the playoff race and pull out some major questions for Indy for 2025. That lends itself to a defensive struggle, which is both the kind of game that the Patriots can win and the kind of game that doesn’t see many points.
