Illinois had been on cruise control since losing to No. 23 Nebraska in mid-December (83-80), winning 12 straight. Along the way, they recorded some impressive wins, including a road win over No. 19 Iowa (75-69), a six-point road win over No. 4 Purdue in Lafayette, and a nine-point road win over No. 5 Nebraska. But the good times had to come to an end eventually, and they did in an overtime road loss vs. No. 10 Michigan State (85-82). But rather than get back on track when they returned home to face Wisconsin, they lost again in overtime, 92-90. As for Indiana, the Hoosiers hit a bad stretch in January, losing four in a row (three to ranked teams), but they have since bounced back, winning five of their last six. They last played on Feb. 9 when they beat the Oregon Ducks at home, 92-74.
