On Wednesday, Liudmila Samsonova of Russia will square off with Iga Swiatek of Poland in the women’s singles quarterfinals of the 2025 Wimbledon Open.
Samsonova secured her second Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance with a hard-earned two-set win over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain, 7-5 7-5. Samsonova, a quarterfinalist at the 2023 French Open, waited more than two years to return to this Grand Slam event stage. On Wednesday, the hard-hitting Russian has a chance to go deeper than she has ever gone in a significant event by pulling off a massive win over the former world No.1, Swiatek.
