Former world’s No.1 Iga Swiatek will return to the tennis court after a few weeks of rest from what she calls a brutal WTA season. The reigning French Open champion will take on Wimbledon Open titlist Barbora Krejcikova in the 2024 WTA Tour Finals group stage. Swiatek will be playing her first match since crashing out in September's quarterfinal of the US Open. The pole begged off from participating during the Asian swing of the WTA Tour to recover from a busy season that produced five main tour titles this year, including the 2024 French Open crown. Meanwhile, Krejcikova will aim to perform better after an underwhelming run during the Asian leg of the WTA Tour. Krejcikova, who won her first Wimbledon Open title and second career Grand Slam early this year, had gone 1-3 across three tournaments during her dismaying Asian campaign.
