The Houston Rockets head to Phoenix on Monday night for a meeting between two Western Conference teams that have opened the season with impressive form. Houston comes in at 10-4 overall and has traveled well so far with a 5-2 road record. Phoenix enters at 10-6 and has been especially strong at home, winning seven of nine on its own floor. Both squads have surged over the last two weeks, posting identical 8-2 marks in their previous ten games.
Houston arrives after a narrow 112-109 loss to Denver, a game in which it closed as a 3.5-point favorite but could not hang on down the stretch. Phoenix is riding the momentum of a tight 114-113 victory over Minnesota, pulling out the win despite being listed as a 4.5-point underdog. The Rockets overall have been one of the hotter teams in the West, winning ten of their last twelve and showing consistency on both ends. They have also controlled the recent series against the Suns, taking seven of the last ten matchups.
Phoenix is also coming off the second leg of a back-to-back, but fatigue has not slowed them much in recent games. Their guard play has been sharp, their execution late in games has improved, and their confidence seems to grow each time they pull out a close finish. Meanwhile, the Rockets could feel the impact of missing so many rotation pieces, especially the scoring and shot creation they typically rely on.

Our Houston Rockets vs Phoenix Suns Prediction
Both sides enter this contest shorthanded. Houston is without several key contributors, including Tari Eason, Dorian Finney-Smith, Fred VanVleet, and Kevin Durant. Phoenix is also dealing with its own absences, most notably Grayson Allen and Jalen Green, both of whom will be out again. Even with those limitations, the Suns have found ways to stay competitive and are quietly building one of the stronger early-season resumes in the conference.
Houston has thrived recently thanks to balanced offense and efficient ball movement, but Monday's matchup may test their depth more than usual. The Suns have been steady at home, and their ability to generate offense from multiple spots on the floor gives them a reliable baseline even when short-handed. If Phoenix maintains its defensive pressure and continues to attack mismatches in the half-court, it can create problems for a Rockets lineup operating without several of its most trusted players.
This game still has the potential to stay tight, given how well both teams have been playing, but Phoenix's home form and Houston's injury list tilt the balance slightly toward the Suns. With steadier guard play and better overall health, Phoenix looks positioned to edge out a close one and deliver a minor upset on its home court. Our prediction for Phoenix Suns vs. Houston Rockets: Under 226.5 points.
