Coming off a convincing win in Game 1, the Houston Astros will enter the second game of their series with the Miami Marlins on Tuesday as a valuable underdog pick at +144.
The Astros extended their winning streak against the Marlins to six games with a dominant 8-2 win on Monday, snapping a three-game losing streak. It took a collective effort from the Astros’ batting lineup to thwart the previously streaking Marlins, who had put together a five-game win streak before Monday’s ballgame. Relief pitcher Jason Alexander dazzled in a starting role, holding the Marlins scoreless through six innings. He allowed three hits and one walk with six strikeouts.
The loss was the Marlins' first in six games, sending them back below .500 at 55-56. Miami, which is pitching a 4.60 ERA in its last five games, surrendered the second-most runs in this stretch, just below the 12 runs it conceded in a 13-12 slugfest against the New York Yankees on August 1.
