Holger Rune of Denmark will go toe-to-toe Roberto Bautista-Agut of Spain on Friday with the winner advancing to the semifinal of the 2025 Queen’s Club Championship.
Rune barged into the quarterfinal round at Queens with a come-from-behind win over Mackenzie McDonald of the United States 2-6 6-1 6-1. Rune recovered from an anemic first-set slump by raising the intensity of his play over the next two sets, punishing his American foe with 33 points off the first and 5 breakpoints, on top of 13 aces.
Bautista Agut keeps turning back the hands of time as the 37-year-old Spaniard downed rising star Jakub Mensik in a three-set tussle 3-6 6-3 7-5 on Thursday. Bautista Agut demonstrated poise under pressure to come back from a set down, and then outgun Mensik in a back-and-forth third set. It marked the second three-setter win for Bautista Agut, who also defeated Nuno Borges of Portugal 6-7(6) 7-5 6-4 in the first round.
