Gonzaga comes into this game fresh off a dominant 89-48 win over the Portland Pilots, the team that handed them their only conference defeat this season (Feb. 4, 87-80). There was no doubt about how the game was going to go this time, as the Bulldogs got out to a 36-21 lead at the break before blowing them out in the second, 53-27. As for Saint Mary’s, the Gaels come into this game on a seven-game win streak, their last loss coming against Gonzaga (Jan. 31, 73-65). Saint Mary’s last played on Wednesday, when they avenged their only other loss this season, a 62-54 defeat vs. Santa Clara, with an 83-67 victory.
Saint Mary’s gave Gonzaga a run for its money in their January 31 game in Spokane. The Gaels took a lead into halftime, 38-34. It took the Bulldogs about seven minutes into the second half to take the lead, but once they did, they didn’t let go.

Saint Mary’s is often the one and only team in the WCC that gives Gonzaga a challenge year in and year out. They seldom win, but they make the Bulldogs earn it, which is probably why the spread is just 2.5 points. There is value in taking the Saint Mary’s moneyline (+114), but I consider the TOTAL a better bet. Yes, both teams have solid defenses, but their offenses are also productive. With the TOTAL set this low, the OVER is the best play.
