The Golden State Valkyries will take on the Sparks for the third time this season tonight with the action set to get underway at 10 p.m. EST in the crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA. Los Angeles opened as a 7.5-point favorite, but the line has since moved to Sparks -6.5.
Golden State and Los Angeles met in their season opener at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The game went about how you would expect for an expansion team playing its first game; it was competitive in the first half, but the Sparks (or to be more precise, Kelsey Plum) took over in the second half and coasted to an 84-67 win. When they met again about a week later in LA, the game started out as a competitive one. LA got out to a 26-24 lead after the first quarter, but then Golden State shut down the Sparks in the second, outscoring them 25-9. LA won the second half 38-33, but enough damage had been done in the second quarter. The Valkyries won, 82-73.
Both teams snapped losing streaks with a win in their last game. Golden State ended a four-game skid with a big win over Las Vegas, 95-68. Los Angeles ended a three-game losing streak with a 93-79 win over Dallas.
