The Germans went into Wednesday's semi-final clash with Portugal having been in sturdy form for the best part of the year. Nagelsmann's men hadn't lost (in regulation time) since late 2023, winning four of their previous six games. They'll now have to do something that they've not had to for a while, which is bounce back following a disappointing defeat.
For the French, the taste of defeat was relatively new ahead of that game against Spain. Didier Deschamps men were beaten in the first leg of the quarter-finals, losing by two goals to Croatia, before turning things around in the second leg. Les Bleus have now won just two of their last five matches, while they lost against the Germans when the pair last met back in 2024, going down by two goals to zero.

For the hosts, head coach Nagelsmann could look to switch things up. The likes of Florian Wirtz and Joshua Kimmich are expected to remain in the side, but someone like Karim Adeyemi, who looked lively off the bench last time out, could come into the starting XI.
