The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (6-1) will try to keep the good times rolling this weekend when they head to Jacksonville, FL, to face the Florida Gators (3-4) at EverBank Stadium. The kickoff for the latest edition of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ABC.
Expectations were high for the Bulldogs coming into the season, but it is hard to say just how well they’ll do. Their only loss is to Alabama earlier in the year, 24-21, but they have since bounced back with three consecutive wins. However, they defeated two unimpressive teams (Kentucky and Auburn) and then-No. 5 Ole Miss, 43-35, but they needed a 17-0 fourth quarter to secure the win. Florida and Mississippi State are winnable games, but No. 20 Texas and No. 7 Georgia Tech could be their undoing. As for Florida, expectations were high for the Gators coming into the season, but they have not lived up to them. Primarily because they are inconsistent, losing games to LSU, Miami, Texas A&M (all top ten teams), along with USF, but then beating No. 9 Texas and Mississippi State.

It hasn’t been pretty for the Bulldogs, but to their credit, they’ve figured out how to get the job done and win more often than not. Florida has won two of its last three, but its head coach was still fired after the win over Mississippi State. So, the Gators were playing better, but the question now is how they’ll respond to losing their coach after a win. This is a scenario where many teams rise up, play their best game, and notch an unexpected win while others flop miserably. I’m not sure the Gators can play well enough to win, but I think we’ll see them keep it interesting, at least.
