A guaranteed place at World Cup 2026 is the prize at stake on Thursday night, as France host Ukraine in a crunch European qualifier.
France are currently three points ahead of their rivals at the top of Group D, and thanks to their superior goal difference, a draw will probably be enough to secure their place at next year's tournament. However, if Ukraine were to spring a huge surprise, qualification would go down to next week's final group games, where France visit Azerbaijan and Ukraine host Iceland.
Unfortunately, the recent omens are not good for the Ukrainians. They were comfortably outclassed when the teams met in the opening round of group games, as goals from Michawel Olise and Kylian Mbappe secured a comfortable 0-2 win for the French. Overall, Ukraine have won just one of their 10 previous meeting with France, a 2-0 victory way back in 2013.

Our France vs Ukraine Prediction
This is a monumental task for Ukraine and we really can't see them getting anything from their trip to Paris,
Didier Deschamps' side have not been at their best during qualifying, but they are still a powerful outfit packed with world class performers such as Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappe.
But whilst we are in little doubt that France will win and book their place at the World Cup, we do like the chances of Artem Dovbyk and co grabbing a goal against a sometimes vulnerable French backline.
Our prediction for France vs Ukraine is: France to win and both teams to score.
