The Winnipeg Jets (20-23-6, 12-9-4 Home) will host the Florida Panthers in the first of two games scheduled vs. the Panthers this season on Thursday, January 22. The puck is scheduled to drop at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, MB, at 8 p.m. EST, with coverage provided by ESPN+.
This contest is the second game of a three-game homestand for Winnipeg, which kicked off on Tuesday with a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues. It was also their fifth win in their last seven games, but the Jets are not too far removed from an epic 11-game losing streak (that included four OT losses). Prior to the win over the Blues, they lost two in a row, 4-3 in overtime vs. Toronto and a 2-0 shutout vs. the Blackhawks. As for the Panthers, Florida is coming off a 4-1 loss to San Jose at home. It was their sixth loss in their last ten games. Three of the wins were by a single goal, but five of the losses were by multiple.
Florida is ranked towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division with just 53 points. Winnipeg isn’t doing any better; the Jets are ranked toward the bottom of the Western Conference’s Central Division with 46 points.
