First place in the American Athletic Conference will be on the line Sunday when the Florida Atlantic Owls (12-6, 4-1 American) face off against the Temple Owls (11-6, 3-1 American). Florida Atlantic got the season off to a solid start, winning five of their first six games, but ended their nonconference schedule with a pair of losses. They got their conference schedule off to a strong start with a 40-point win over UTSA, 110-70, followed by sixth loss of the season and first conference loss to Tulane (69-66). They last played on Thursday, beating Wichita State 85-67. As for Temple, they had a rougher start to the season, dropping five of their first nine, including a three-game losing streak. But they ended their nonconference schedule on a solid note, winning four in a row. They rolled that momentum into the start of conference play, winning three in a row before dropping their first conference game on Wednesday, 55-53, to Memphis.
