After losing three in a row to ranked teams to end the regular season, the Florida Gators (16-16, 5-11) have gone on a roll in the SEC Tournament and hope to keep it going in the quarterfinals tonight against No. 9 LSU. The game is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 p.m. ET with coverage via the SEC Network.
Conference play was tough on the Gators this year (5-11), a fact that was evident down the stretch with losses to No. 15 Tennessee, No. 13 Oklahoma, and No. Texas to end the season. Auburn crushed them 74-51 in the regular season, but the Gators came out ahead in the first round, 60-50. They lost to Alabama twice in the regular season (79-69 and 84-66) but pulled out a victory over the Tide in the second round, 63-61. Like Auburn and Alabama, LSU beat the Gators during the regular season by a score of 80-63.
LSU lost its final two regular-season games, one to Alabama in OT (88-85) and one to Ole Miss (85-77). Concerning? Sure, but the Tigers will come into this game well-rested with a deeper and more talented roster against a Florida team playing its third game in three days.

A Florida win makes for a better story, but I’m afraid their luck will probably run out tonight. I expect the Gators to get off to a hot start as they stay in the groove that resulted in their two-game win streak. They may even hold a lead at the half. But once LSU knocks off the cobwebs, they’ll take over the game. I think the Tigers will cover the spread, but I’m not super confident they will, which is why I’m going with the OVER.
