The Florida Gators (19-3, 6-3) will try to do what no one else in the SEC has done this season Saturday afternoon—beat the No. 1 team in the nation, the Auburn Tigers (21-1, 9-0). Tipoff for this SEC matchup is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET at Neville Arena in Auburn, AL. As could be expected, the home team is favored to win (-9.5).
Auburn has been on a roll in the SEC, winning their last 15 games vs. conference opponents dating back to last season, including the conference tournament. They won their last three by 10+ points but slipped by then-No. 6 Tennessee 53-51 and No. 23 Georgia 70-68. Senior forward Johni Broome is averaging a double-double this season (18.2 ppg and 10.9 rebounds per game). But the Tigers may need him to step up his game, with Florida expected to get leading-scorer Walker Clayton, Jr. back. Clayton sprained his ankle in the Gators’ loss to Tennessee last weekend. He ended up just missing one game, Tuesday’s win over Vanderbilt.
