The second round of the CONCACAF Champions Cup gets underway this week. On Thursday, Cincinnati and Tigres meet for the first leg at TQL Stadium, both teams coming here on the back of very high-scoring games in the first round.
The Orange and Blue didn’t hold back in their first continental fixture against Dominican Republic’s Universidad O&M, concluding the two legs with an aggregate score of 13-0. They haven’t been able to be as showy in the league, though, scoring just two goals in three matches so far, failing to net in each of their last two.
Tigres faced Canada’s Forge in the first round, where after an unfortunate 0-0 first leg in The Land of the Maple, they came back fighting in Mexico with a 4-1 win on home soil. As opposed to their dominant performances in the opening season of the Liga MX, where they went many games without defeat and finished 2nd, Tigres haven’t thrived as much in clausura, losing three out of their last five.

Don’t be fooled by Cincinnati’s last Champions Cup game, with their hefty 13-0 scoreline . They were playing against a much inferior side from the Dominican Republic. That form is not relevant here, and probably hasn’t well-prepared them for a game against a much more dangerous opponent.
Mexican teams have a strong record in this competition, while Cincinnati have looked really weak in the MLS in the last couple of weeks. With their domestic campaign their priority at the moment, they may not be too focused on this competition.
When the teams met in 2025, Tigres were much the better side, so much so that they should be a shorter price to win here.
