Everton and Sunderland will face each other in the penultimate match of the 2025/2026 Premier League season. Both teams occupy mid-table positions; the Toffees are aiming to overtake Brentford for eighth place in the final matches, potentially surpassing Chelsea, to secure that last European qualification spot for next season. The Black Cats have the same goal; they enter this matchday one point behind David Moyes' men.

In the betting odds, Everton are over 50% favorites to win, as they have historically often done in their final home league game of the season. This is despite the fact that only 33% of their points have been earned at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. This is based on Sunderland's less-than-stellar away form, and they are coming off a goalless draw at home against a weakened Manchester United side that fielded many reserve players after already securing a Champions League place.
