On Friday, Iga Swiatek of Poland will take on Eva Lys for a spot in the fourth round of the 2025 Canadian Open.
Swiatek is brewing up another deep run in Montreal after reaching the final of the 2025 Washington Open last week. The Pole delivered a near flawless performance in her second-round win over Hanyu Guo of China 6-3 6-1 to extend her win streak to eight matches. Swiatek is gunning for a second straight big title following a championship campaign at the 2025 Wimbledon Open.
Lys posted her second straight sweep, topping Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-3 6-4 in the previous round. The German got the job done by conceding only two breakpoints to Pavlyuchenkova and scoring the four breakpoints that allowed her to pull away. Lys had earlier similarly bested Leolia Jeanjean, 6-1 6-4.
