On the WTA side of things on Tuesday, it's also quarter-finals time. One of the final four matches due to take place sees Elina Svitolina take on Iga Swiatek, who isn't quite as dominant as she was a year ago. The Polish player, who remains one of the very best female players on the planet, has been far from poor since the start of the clay-court season, but it's definitely been clear to see that she's lost a little bit of her edge, losing to Coco Gauff in the semi-finals in Madrid, while she lost to Danielle Collins early on in Rome. Such defeats likely wouldn't have occured a year ago. Of course, at Roland Garros, where she thrives, she's delivered the goods, and even if she's not quite the player she was this time last year, the woman who has won each of the last three French Opens remains a serious contender. 

For Elina Svitolina, this might actually be seen as an opportunity. The Ukrainian player is very, very capable on her day, as she proved by beating Jasmin Paolini, who reached the final at Roland Garros a year ago, last time out. Svitolina has also beaten Swiatek at a Grand Slam in recent times, defeating the Pole at Wimbledon in 2023. Can she draw on that positive experience and pick up what would be her biggest ever clay-court win?
