Danielle Rose Collins of the United States goes for another upset win against No.16 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in the fourth-round of the 2025 Italian Open.
Collins unleashed the “Danimal” on Saturday as the veteran campaigner came through with a 6-1 7-5 upset win over defending Italian Open champion and world’s No.2 Iga Swiatek on Sunday. Collins, who won 74 percent of her first serves and captured 6 breakpoints, has single-handedly changed the landscape of the Italian Open after knocking over one of the tournament’s favorites.
Svitolina improved her clay-court record this year to 13-1 after fending off a spirited challenge from Hailey Baptiste of the United States 6-4 3-6 6-4. Svitolina, whose 9-match winning streak ended at the hands of Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal of the Madrid Open, denied a serious upset bid from the American qualifier by collecting 44 points off her first serves and breaking Baptiste’s serves 6 times.
