Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan takes on Suzan Lamens of the Netherlands in the second round of the 2025 Indian Wells Open on Friday. Rybakina enters the competition in California with a 13-5 record in the season, having reached the semifinal of the Abu Dhabi Open and Dubai Championship and the quarterfinals at the Qatar Open. The No.7 ranked Rybakina will attempt to reclaim the Indian Wells title after failing to defend the crown last year due to illness. Lamens punched her ticket to the second round with a 3-6 6-3 6-3 win over Marie Bouzkova of Czech Republic. Lamens, who had trouble getting past the second round in the previous tourneys, will have to bring out A++ game for her to get a shot at upsetting one of the tournament’s favorites in their second-round clash.

Our Elena Rybakina vs Suzan Lamens Prediction
Rybakina’s ultra-aggressive style suits up well with Indian Wells’ super-bouncy court this year. After foregoing the chance to be a back-to-back champion last year, the Kazakh enters the competition eager to reclaim the prestigious Indian Wells title. With all due respect for Lamens, she doesn’t stand a chance against Rybakina in this matchup unless the Kazakh runs into another freak injury. Rybakina, a -1600 favorite to win, will open her campaign in the desert in a big way, winning in straight sets. Our betting prediction for Elena Rybakina vs. Suzan Lamens: Rybakina will cover -6.5 games.
