Bianca Andreescu of Canada sets her sights on advancing to the semifinal round of the 2025 Libema Open, as she dukes out with Elena-Gabriela Ruse of Romania on Friday.

Andreescu set the tone early, firing blistering forehand shots and busting out crafty net play to overwhelm Sun in the opening set. Andreescu also delivered in the crucial moment of the second, breaking Andreescu in the 9th game after a back-and-forth battle to take a 5-4 win and serve for the match.
Ruse, meanwhile, has racked up four straight-set wins in a row to reach this stage of the tournament. The Romanian’s latest win came at the expense of Carson Branstine of Canada 6-4 6-3. Ranked No.80 in the world, Ruse parades a career 24-14 record on grass and a 21-9 record overall in 2025.
