Playing for the first time since losing to Aryna Sabalenka 3-6 6-1 6-2 in the semis of the French Open, Swiatek faced a spirited challenge from Azarenka, who seized a commanding 4-1 lead in the first set. The Pole refused to concede the opening set as she won five consecutive games to secure a 1-0 set lead. The second set featured another back-and-forth battle until Swiatek captured a key breakpoint conversion in the 7th game of the second set, which allowed her to create the separation she needed to pull away from Azarenka.

Alexandrova improved her 2025 grass-court record to 5-1 after edging former top-10 player Maria Sakkari 6-3 6-7(2) 6-3 in the second round. Hot off a dominant win over Belinda Bencic 6-1, 6-2, Alexandrova easily breezed through to a first-set win before succumbing to Sakkari in the second-set tiebreaker that forced a deciding set. The Russian managed to regain her mojo in the third set, securing a key breakpoint in the fourth game before calming her nerves to outlast Sakkari in a frantic 9th game to get the win.
