The Cleveland Guardians and the Detroit Tigers will return to Progressive Field on Wednesday for a crucial Game 2.

The Tigers, who have lost their last six games, are the road underdogs at +118 against a Guardian team that has gone 17-5 this September.

The Guardians captured their 11th win in 12 games on Tuesday as Daniel Schneemann’s two-run single in the 7th inning capped Cleveland’s rally from a 0-2 down to beat the Tigers 5-3. With the win, Cleveland and Detroit now have a similar 85-72 record, though the Guardians still regained the AL Central leadership because of the tiebreaker.

Nobody expected the Tigers to experience a monumental collapse this late in the season. From seizing complete control of the AL Central division for almost the entire year to possibly missing out on the postseason, Detroit’s epic meltdown represents the unpredictable nature of the MLB. The Tigers have gone 5-14 this September, allowing the Guardians to claw back from oblivion and challenge them for the AL Central title.

The Guardians look poised to secure another convincing win over the reeling Tigers. Cleveland is 4-0 in their last four meetings with Detroit, winning by at least two runs in all those meetings. The Guardians are 84-71 against the spread this season and 30-18 ATS against teams from the AL Central Division. It means they either have dominated underdog teams or competed well against favorites this season. Cleveland is sending in RHP Tanner Bibee on Wednesday, hoping he can help them sustain their momentum. Bibee has only allowed one run and amassed 18 strikeouts over his last 15 innings across two starts. Moreover, the Guardians hurler has also won his last three starts against the Tigers, including a dazzling performance on September 18, in which he allowed one earned run and struck out eight over 6.0 innings in a 3-1 win over the Tigers.
