One of the last games in next Saturday’s NHL schedule will feature the inter-conference clash between the Detroit Red Wings and the Seattle Kraken, a game in which the bookies’ odds favored the Red Wings to win this game. Nonetheless, it cannot be ignored that these teams are currently facing very difficult challenges, most of them caused by very irregular defensive performances.

On the one hand, the Detroit Red Wings have only been able to win one of their last five games, it being very concerning that they have conceded four or more goals in four of those games. Furthermore, they have only won two of their last ten on-the-road games in regulation time, a negative streak that is totally opposite to the good job they did at the beginning of the season.

On the other hand, the Seattle Kraken currently have a two-game home losing streak, during which they haven’t scored more than two goals per game. Those numbers clearly reflect the offensive difficulties of this team, which currently highlights as the worst offense in the Western Conference with 63 goals scored throughout the season. With this in mind, they cannot be expected to qualify for the playoffs.
