Despite having kicked off the preseason, the New York Knicks seem to still be on vacation, not only because they’ve lost every game in this Summer League, but also because they’ve barely averaged 57 points per game, which is a dismal performance for the reigning NBA champions. The New York team’s poor performance is mainly due to several players, such as Jalen Brunson, not yet being on the roster, and to their early-game inconsistency..they’ve lost the first quarter in 5 of their last 7 games.
For their part, the Detroit Pistons picked up another Summer League win by defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 103–94 in their last game. On top of that, the Pistons will be happy to face this opponent, as they’ve beaten them in their last four head-to-head matchups and have won the first five quarters in those games. Furthermore, they have averaged 110 points against the Knicks.
The Knicks are performing well below their usual level in the Summer League, making the Pistons the favorites to extend their winning streak, so a Detroit victory by at least 5 points is expected.
