The Northwest Division clash at Target Center today sets up as one of the most intriguing matchups on the NBA slate, with both the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves entering in strong form. Denver arrives riding a six-game win streak and looking every bit like the defending champions they are. Their most recent outing was a statement win over the Clippers, highlighted by a vintage, almost effortless masterpiece from Nikola Jokic.
The three-time MVP poured in 55 points on an absurd 18-for-23 shooting while adding his usual blend of rebounding and playmaking. Performances like that continue to remind the league that no player controls a game's rhythm quite like Jokic. Jamal Murray chipped in enough scoring support to keep the Nuggets comfortably ahead throughout, and Denver's half-court execution looked sharp for long stretches.
Minnesota, however, comes into this matchup with plenty of momentum of its own. Winners of six of their last seven games, the Timberwolves are showing improved consistency, especially on the defensive end where they have quickly become one of the more disruptive groups in the conference. Their win over Sacramento featured another commanding outing from Anthony Edwards, who continues to evolve as a reliable late-game scorer and emotional tone-setter.
Edwards' ability to attack mismatches, generate free throws, and create offense out of stalled possessions has been a major difference during Minnesota's hot start. Donte DiVincenzo gave them a timely boost with efficient shooting, while the frontcourt did its usual work on the glass and in rim protection.

Our Minnesota Timberwolves vs Denver Nuggets Prediction
The early-season meeting between these teams is still fresh, and it was a one-sided affair in favor of Denver. The Nuggets dominated the third quarter in that matchup and shot the ball extremely well from deep, while Minnesota struggled to keep pace from three-point range. That shooting split won't necessarily repeat itself, especially with Minnesota defending the perimeter with more urgency lately.
The Timberwolves have also handled Denver well over the past couple of seasons, winning six of their last seven against the champs, and their physicality in the paint has caused issues for Denver in the past when Jokic is forced to shoulder too much offensive load.
From a betting standpoint, the pace should be relatively slow, as both teams prefer controlled possessions and strong half-court defense. Yet their offensive execution has been sharp enough this season to lean toward the over. Denver is still thin at the wing with Cameron Johnson and Christian Braun out, and Jokic's questionable status adds uncertainty, though he typically suits up for marquee matchups. Minnesota is fully healthy and playing with the confidence of a team eager to be taken seriously as a Western Conference contender.
With fresh legs, home-court energy, and a renewed identity built around defensive toughness and Edwards' leadership, Minnesota has a strong chance to flip the script from October and deliver a more complete effort on both ends. Our prediction for the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets: Over 234.5 points.
