In Port of Spain, the Concacaf Champions League continues when Trinidad and Tobago's Defence Force takes on the newly crowned MLS Supporters' Shield champions, the Philadelphia Union.

This is also a historic matchup, marking the first time Defence Force has faced an MLS club and the first time the Philadelphia Union has played against a Trinidadian team. Defence Force is enjoying a blistering run in their country's top division, leading the table and winning nine of their last ten matches. After Cibao FC of the Dominican Republic eliminated them in the last edition, they are back in the Concacaf Champions League. Defence Force is a modest team, but with a respectable history; they won the Concacaf Champions League twice, in 1978 and 1985, the only team from Trinidad and Tobago to achieve this feat.
