Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine will try to advance her campaign into the round of 16 when she plays Emma Navarro of the United States on Thursday at the 2025 Canadian Open.

Yastremska reached the third round after rallying past Maria Camila Osorio Serano of Colombia in a hard-fought three-set duel 3-6 7-6(5) 6-2. Yastremska, playing in her first hard-court tournament in months, yielded the first set after letting Osorio break her twice. They continued to trade breakpoints in the second set. Still, Yastremska exhibited incredible poise to level the score at 6-6 and force a tiebreaker, where the Ukrainian saved a match point to take the match into a deciding set. Osorio earned another breakpoint to open the third set, but Yastremska unleashed a furious finishing kick to win 6 of the last 7 games. The win moved Yastremska to a third round-of-16 appearance at a WTA 1000 hard-court event after she made it into the third round of the Dubai Duty Free Open and the Indian Wells Open.

Navarro blasted Rebecca Marino of Canada in the second round 6-1 6-2 to earn her first win of the North American hard-court swing. The No. 11-ranked Navarro is eyeing a better campaign in Montreal following a disappointing second-round flameout at Washington. Navarro, the 2024 US Open semifinalist, is 12-8 in hard-court matches this year.
