Daria Kasatkina of Australia will play Sonay Kartal of Great Britain in the first round of the 2025 LTA London Championship on Monday.
Kasatkina, a former Wimbledon Open quarterfinalist, is fresh off a round-of-16 appearance at the 2025 French Open. The Russian-born netter posted solid wins over Katerina Siniakova 6-1 3-6 6-2, Leolia Jeanjean 6-4 6-2, and Paula Badosa 6-1 7-5 before falling to Mirra Andreeva 6-3 7-5 in the fourth round.
managed to win her opening match in Paris, beating Erika Andreeva 6-0 6-2 before bowing to Marie Bouzkova 1-6, 4-6 in the second round. Kartal enters the grass-court season with some level of optimism after going 8-4 on the surface last season and reaching the third round of the 2024 Wimbledon Open.
