Our Daria Kasatkina vs Claire Liu Prediction

We should take nothing away from Claire Liu's win against Petra Martic, who is by no means a poor player at WTA level, but beating Kasatkina, who is currently ranked 11th, is a much tougher task than beating a player ranked 60th. To be honest, I'm finding it hard to ignore what happened when these two met in Australia back in January. On that occasion, Kasatkina got the job done in uncompromising fashion, winning in straight sets, and she seemingly did so without having to dig all that deep into her armoury. It's probably fair to say that Liu has improved a bit since then and she is in good form right now, but she hasn't really beaten anyone of real note of late, which is a worry. In contrast, Kasatkina has picked up some good wins against players, some of whom have been ranked comfortably inside the world's top 25, so we really shouldn't be surprised if she proves to be too good for Liu here. I'm betting on her to show her quality with a straight-set win.
