Danielle Rose Collins will slug it out with fellow American Sofia Kenin in the first round of the 2025 Strasbourg International on Monday.
Collins will be competing in only her third tournament of the clay-court season, where she has so far compiled a 4-2 record. Collins’ bid for a back-to-back title at Charleston was cut short in the quarterfinal by eventual champion Jessica Pegula in three sets 1-6 6-3 6-0. Collins also reached the round-of-16 at the 2025 Italian Open, scoring a huge upset win over defending champion and former world’s No.1 Iga Swiatek 6-1 7-5 before falling to Elina Svitolina in the next round.
Kenin, meanwhile, would only reach the round of 32 of the 2025 Madrid and Italian Open following a scintillating run to the final at the 2025 Charleston Open. Nevertheless, the former Grand Slam winner looked sharp in Rome, posting a convincing win over Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-3 before pushing Aryna Sabalenka to the limit 3-6 6-3 6-3.
