Novak Djokovic will resume his quest for a record 8th Wimbledon Open title on Thursday when he takes on crowd favorite Daniel Evans of Great Britain.
Djokovic breezed through to the second round following a surgical four-set win over Alexandre Muller 6-1 6-7(7) 6-2 6-2. Djokovic captured the opening frame in seven games, but Muller made things interesting by taking the second set via tiebreaker to level the match at one set apiece. The 7-time Wimbledon Open winner recaptured his groove thereafter, scoring 4 of his 7 breakpoints in the third and second set to win the match.
Evans also cruised to an easy win over Jay Clarke of Great Britain 6-1 7-5 6-2 to reach the second round of the 2025 Wimbledon Open. The veteran has improved his 2025 grass-court record to 7-3, and more importantly, earned his first win at Wimbledon for the first time since reaching the third round of the tournament in 2019.
