Dan Ige (19-9-0) versus Patricio Pitbull (36-8-0) is a featherweight matchup on Saturday night at Smoothie King Center, New Orleans. Dan “50K” Ige comes into this fight as the betting favorite despite his recent underwhelming performances. He has a 2-3 record in the last five fights, although he’s coming off a KO win against Sean Woodson at UFC 314 in April. Ige is the No. 11-ranked contender in the division and will be looking to add more winning consistency to his fights.
Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, on the other hand, is a 38-year-old veteran who has been fighting since 2004. The Brazilian has spent most of his career at Bellator MMA, dominating the lightweight and featherweight categories. Pitbull also became a champion in the two divisions. After years at Bellator, he joined the UFC this year, losing to Yair Rodriguez via decision. Pitbull will want to put up an improved performance in his second outing.

Could Pitbull’s move to join the UFC be too little, too late? We think so! His case is similar to that of Chandler, who spent most of his career at another organization. The Brazilian’s prime years are undoubtedly behind him, and he could struggle against a much younger opponent like Ige. This was evident against Rodriguez in April when he couldn’t keep up with the pace of the 32-year-old. Still, he should be experienced enough to last all three rounds in this scrap.
