The Dallas Stars (61-25-11 SU, 43-54 ATS) look to build off their Game 2 win over the Edmonton Oilers (58-31-7 SU, 42-54 ATS) as the series shifts to Canada. The Stars weathered the storm in the first period of Game 2, surviving despite getting outshot 16-4 in the game’s first 20 minutes. From that point on, Dallas was the better team and took control of the contest.
Edmonton’s big challenge is figuring out how to get the Stars to take penalties. Dallas mostly stayed out of the box in Game 2 and gave the Oilers just three penalties in the first two games of the series. Edmonton’s penalty kill remains excellent and hasn’t conceded a goal in the series, but neither have the Oil scored with the man advantage.

The Oilers might be satisfied with a split, but the Stars have been road warriors throughout the postseason. Dallas was able to dictate the tempo in the second game and could probably be up 2-0 in the series if it hadn’t wasted its opportunities in the first game.
The Oilers have held their own on special teams thanks to their penalty kill, but frustration appears to be settling in on Edmonton’s side. After Game 2, the Oil openly wondered why the Stars weren’t getting penalties called in the first two games, which could be a sign that Dallas is getting in Edmonton’s heads. The Oilers have been in this situation before and gotten themselves drawn into a mental game before. As good as Edmonton has been on the ice, Dallas appears to be stronger mentally. That will likely make the difference, so our prediction for Dallas vs. Edmonton is for the Stars to win.
