Second decisive match in CONCACAF to determine the next qualifier for the next Copa America in 2024, where Costa Rica and Honduras will play a single match. 

On the one hand, Gustavo Alfaro's team, ranked 54th in the FIFA ranking, arrives in bad shape after poor performances in the previous year's tournaments where they could not get past the quarterfinals in both the Gold Cup and the Nations League. In fact, in the latter, they were humiliated by Panama with a 6-1 aggregate score, which prevented them from going into this match with confidence. A duel that although they won in the last head-to-head played in 2021, they have not been a roller the last few years against Honduras. 

Honduras, ranked 78th in the ranking, can be said to be coming with more confidence and attitude because although in the Gold Cup they did not get past the group stage, then in November they were able to win 1 of the 2 games in the quarterfinals against Mexico and even took them to penalties where they were just a couple of hits away from eliminating the best team of CONCACAF teams in history. In addition, their last win over Costa Rica is not so far away as in 2021 they won 3rd place in the Nations League finals.
