Despite the defeat, the 34-year-old showed his excellence, finding his range occasionally and preventing early takedowns. He’ll be the -141 favorite to bounce back with a win this weekend.
Standing on the opposite end of the Octagon is Mario Bautista, a 33-year-old fighter with huge title ambitions. The American saw his eight-fight winning run come to an end last October after he lost to Umar Nurmagomedov via a unanimous decision. However, he didn’t dwell on that defeat, immediately bouncing back to submit Vinicius Oliveira in February this year. Bautista has clearly established himself as an elite contender in the division.
