Conor McGregor (22-6-0) and Max Holloway (27-9-0) will clash in the UFC Welterweight division on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. McGregor, who is a former two-division champion, will step into the Octagon for the first time since July 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier via KO/TKO in Round 1. That was the second straight defeat for McGregor, who lost against the same opponent in January 2021 via a KO punch in Round 2. The Irishman needs to win this weekend.
Like McGregor, Max Holloway is still recovering from painful defeats in his recent assignments. The American-born fighter lost his title bout against Ilia Topuria in October 2024 via a Round 3 KO. He recovered to defeat Poirier in July 2025 via a unanimous decision in a five-round brawl. However, the “Blessed” couldn’t build on that performance after losing to Charles Oliveira via Unanimous decision in March this year. He’ll come into this contest as the -230 favorite.

McGregor and Holloway will be meeting for the second time in the UFC. The last time these two gentlemen met was in August 2013, when McGregor won via unanimous decision. Holloway is favored to win this weekend, partly because McGregor has been out of action for a lengthy period. He’ll know that he must survive the early storm and bring his endurance into play and outlast McGregor. However, we’re backing “The Notorious” to win by stoppage if he imposes himself on the fight in the first two rounds. The 37-year-old will want to keep this fight in a boxing range and use his relentless pace and aggression to wear down Holloway and win via KO/TKO. Things could be complicated for him if this fight goes to Round 4 or 5.
