Cal Raleigh is the man of the moment in Seattle for everything he's done with the Mariners this season, as they captured the division lead in a furious September in which they snatched the lead from the Astros. But Cal Raleigh has undoubtedly been the team's most influential player, not just since September, but throughout the season.
Cal Raleigh, with more than 40,000 in attendance at T-Mobile Park, hit his 59th and 60th home runs; the first was a monstrous blast that landed in the third deck. Raleigh joins an exclusive list of seven players who have had 60-homer seasons, and his is especially impressive, given that Raleigh is a switch hitter and doing it at the Mariners' home, known for being a pitcher's park.
Cal Raleigh wasn't the only one who got people off their seats in the Mariners' victory over the Rockies on Wednesday. It was a 9-2 rout, with Julio Rodríguez (32nd HR), Polanco (25th HR), and Eugenio Suárez (48th HR) also contributing. The Venezuelan Mariners third baseman is the fifth-most homers in the MLB this season.
