=11.0ptTonight, the Colorado Avalanche head into the SAP Center to take on the San Jose Sharks. The start to the season has not been kind to either team. The Avs are just 1-4-0, while the Sharks are still searching for their 1st win of the season after going 0-3-2 to start things off. In their latest loss, which came on the road in Winnipeg, things got ugly in a hurry. They found themselves down 4-1 after the 1st period with 3 of the Jets goals coming on the power-play. They were never able to recover from that opening period and ultimately fell 8-3. The Avs are coming off their 1st win of the season. After falling behind in the 1st period like the Sharks had done, 2-0 to the Ducks, they were able to regroup in the last 2 periods. Trailing 2-1 into the 3rd period, Ross Colton found the back of the net twice in the 3rd period to take a 3-2 lead. Troy Terry of Anaheim forced overtime by scoring with just seconds remaining. In overtime, Nathan MacKinnon needed just under 5 minutes to put in his 2nd goal of the season and give the Avs their 1st victory of the year.
