Dallas Mavericks (22-44) and Cleveland Cavaliers (40-26) will clash on Friday night at the American Airlines Center. The Mavericks will try to salvage what’s left of their disastrous campaign after falling 29.5 games behind the Thunder in the Western Conference. Jason Kidd’s men have gone 2-8 in the last 10 matches, although their latest assignment ended in an 8-point win over the Grizzlies on the road. It has been a season to forget for them.
Cleveland Cavaliers, on the other side of the hardwood, have also flattered to deceive in the Eastern Conference. The conference defending champs are fourth, 7.5 games behind the runaway leaders, the Pistons. The Cavs are coming off a thrilling 128-122 defeat on the road to Orlando Magic, with James Harden leading the crew with 30 points and 8 assists. The former Clippers star has added creativity to their attack, although consistency remains a key issue.

The Cavs are the -835 betting favorites. Their Wednesday night defeat showed that they’re still a work in progress, especially defensively. They’ll be eager to show improvement against the Mavericks, who have very little to play for. Probably the only motivating factor that’s still driving the hosts is the Rookie of the Year candidacy for Cooper Flagg. However, Dallas has shown some offensive bite in recent games, especially in their win against the Grizzlies, where Chris Middleton scored 35 points. They don’t have any new injuries to worry about and will want to maximize their eight remaining home games. Still, we can’t see them winning this one.
