The Washington Commanders (3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS) host the Cleveland Browns (1-3 SU, 1-3 ATS) with a chance to really take control of the NFC East. The Commanders have been one of the surprise stories of the NFL in the early going, as they hold a 3-1 mark and have now won three consecutive games. With Philadelphia and Dallas appearing middling at best, the door is open for Washington to take control of the division.
Cleveland finds itself looking to avoid the early knockout. The Browns were supposed to be competing for a division title and potentially finally bringing a playoff game to northeast Ohio after 30 years without. But the Browns got off to another poor start and appear to yet again be having issues at quarterback. If they can’t clean that up, it’s going to be another long year in Cleveland.

If Washington’s defense has gotten something figured out, the Commanders are quite dangerous. The defense has been very inconsistent week to week, as Washington got shredded by Tampa Bay and Cincinnati before holding both the Giants and Arizona under 20 points. The win over the Cardinals was particularly impressive, as Arizona came in having played the Bills and Lions close and annihilated the Rams.
The Browns have a good defense, but the offense is just stuck in neutral. When the defense has a bad day, the wheels come off quickly. When the defense has a good day, Cleveland still needs something extra to go its way to get a win. And Washington doesn’t appear to be the kind of team that’s going to provide that. The Commanders haven’t beat themselves and have put up points. That makes this a tough ask for Cleveland. Our prediction for Cleveland vs. Washington is Commanders -3.
