Clayton Carpenter (8-2-0) versus Jose Ochoa (8-2-0) is an exciting Flyweight matchup to kick off UFC 328 on Saturday night at Prudential Center. Clayton Carpenter will be under pressure to win after being disappointing as a UFC prospect. He started his UFC journey brightly, winning his first three assignments before running out of tricks to lose back-to-back fights last year. Some of his fans argue that he has been served too much competition lately. This weekend could be redemption time.
Like Carpenter, Jose Ochoa will also be fighting to win and bounce back from his latest loss in July 2025. The Peruvian fighter joined the franchise in November 2024, losing his first fight before bouncing back with a KO win against Cody Durden in June last year. However, he failed to build on that performance just a month later, losing via decision to Asu Almabayev. So far, he has shown some defensive weaknesses, although he’s great at picking up his striking spots.

Our Clayton Carpenter vs Jose Ochoa Prediction
Jose Ochoa will enter the Octagon as the -180 betting favorite. We expect a classic striker versus grappler fight, with Ochoa banking on his striking capabilities to send his opponent to an early shower. It will be his fight to lose if he manages to contain Carpenter’s grappling and submission. The American can end things quickly if he takes the fight to the mat, as we saw in his impressive submission wins against Lucas Rocha and Juancamilo Ronderos. However, the “Kalzifer” won’t be easy to take to the floor. The Peruvian has a solid takedown defense rate of 59%. Everything considered, we’re backing the striker for a KO win if he keeps his opponent on his feet.
Our prediction for Clayton Carpenter vs Jose Ochoa: Under 2.5 rounds.
