After posting a resounding 7-0 win in Game 1, the Pittsburgh Pirates will try to secure another decisive win over their division rivals, the Cincinnati Reds, in Game 2 on Friday at PNC Park.
The Pirates bounced back from back-to-back losses to the San Francisco Giants with a dominant win over the Reds on Thursday. Paul Skenes strengthened his case for the NL CY Young Award, blanking the Reds through six innings while striking out eight batters. Jared Triolo and Henry David each drove in two Runs to spearhead Pittsburgh’s offense.
The Reds suffered their second consecutive loss and third in their last five games. Cincinnati currently sits in third place in the NL Central Division with a 60-56 record, seven games behind the 66-48 Chicago Cubs and 11 games below the 70-44 Milwaukee Brewers.
