Winners of their last four games, the Arizona Diamondbacks will march into Chase Field on Sunday as -136 favorites against the Cincinnati Reds.
The D-Backs are not giving up on their postseason hopes just yet. Behind a stellar performance on the mound and behind the plate, Arizona captured its fourth consecutive victory after blasting the Reds 10-1 in Game 2. Relief pitcher Nabil Chrismatt pitched four scoreless innings while Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Geraldo Perdomo belted a home run each to power Arizona to an 8-0 start. At 64-66, the Diamondbacks are only 5.5 games behind the New York Mets, who occupy the third wild card slot in the National League.
The Reds have lost their last three games, falling to 67-63 in the regular season. Like the Diamondbacks, Cincinnati is also fighting to earn a wild-card spot in the National League. The Reds are trailing the Mets by 2.5 games, with plenty of baseball left over the four weeks of the 2025 MLB regular season. Catcher Tyler Stephenson is listed day-to-day with a thumb injury. Reports indicated Stephenson will suit up for Sunday’s ball game, but he is expected to wear a thumb guard to prevent aggravating the injury.
